Job Description
At Hangzhou Early Bird Training School on Huafeng Road, we do not just teach English. Our goal is provide an educational environment that incorporates games and competition into our classrooms to make learning English a fun, safe, and effective learning experience for children. By associating learning English with fun and games, students are eager to come back to our school and it also sets the foundation for the desire to learn a new language. Not only are the classrooms here at Early Bird fun, active, effective, and perhaps most importantly, positive, but our program ensures all students English ability advances quickly.
A positive attitude outside of the classroom yields to positive
results in the classroom and children learning. As our school is a
Training School, our students have been at regular school all day before they come into Early Bird, so our mixture of fun with education effectively helps with the teaching time efficiency. This creates a positive atmosphere easy for students to learn. Many times, our students don’t even know they are learning because in our classrooms, it is just as important that the children are enjoying themselves as it is they are learning English.
When a new teacher first starts at Early Bird, they are not put in a
classroom of their own students until they, as well as the school feels as if they are adequately prepared. The Training period at Early Bird is a 1 month process involving watching classes of all of our experienced teachers, going through training folders and power points, watching teaching situational videos, as well as taking detailed notes on the Early Bird teaching style.
Our school provides its teachers with a beautiful fully furnished 1 room apartment conveniently located near the other teachers at the school. It is a new complex, so the features are very modern. Another great part of the apartment is the scenic view of the gorgeous national park called Hushangongyuan. Our teachers on their free time love to explore the park: climb the mountains, walk through the bamboo forest, mountain bike, or just simply enjoy the beautiful nature. The walk to school from the apartment complex is about a 10-15 minute walk depending the length of the teachers’ legs. We do not have a minimum or maximum leg length requirement for our teachers. The salary is 9,000-16,000 RMB per month. The cost of living in Hangzhou is very low. It is a more than
attainable goal for a teacher to spend 3,000-5,000 RMB per month and still live very comfortably. The completion of the contract also
includes a 5,000 RMB bonus to reward our teachers for their hard work.
At Early Bird, we run under a western management system. We are quite aware of the horror stories of foreign teachers being taken advantage of and cheated by management at other training schools and we assure you this is not one of those schools. When I first arrived in China, I was hired on to be a teacher at a school that did not have my best interest in mind. This was a motivation factor for me to start a school that has the best interests of our teachers in mind. It is not just our goal to provide a teacher with a job, but also provide them with a happy life in China in and out of the work place. Here at Early Bird, we are a collection of individuals working together in a family atmosphere. I feel as if it is very important to have symmetry in a school when it comes to teachers working together to improve. In teaching, there is room for improvement on a day to day basis regardless if the teacher has been teaching for 10 days or 10 years. We consider everyone here to be family and want to keep our group strong. If you would like to hear what our teachers think as well, they would be happy to also shed light on how our work environment runs smoothly, effectively, and fun. As far as a teachers arrival here in Hangzhou is concerned, the teacher is far from alone in the transition to China. I understand what it is like to be alone in China as a non-Chinese speaker, and I will not put anyone through what I went through. Any situation that may arise, we are more than willing to help. I mean anything, whether it may as serious as sickness to as simple as getting food. As previously stated, we are here to provide our teacher with a comfortable atmosphere in and out of the workplace.
