Technology Project Manager

Our ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

Firstly, we are giving strong preference to candidates already living within the People’s Republic of China.

Must haves:

Native command of English, both written and oral
Experience working with International Manufacturers, and ideally brands which are marketed in the USA and Europe
Great computer skills, and experience in using office applications, Git repositories, project management tools, and the like
Current or prior experience with embedded systems development

We know everyone can’t know everything, but weight is given to candidates that also have some or all of the following skills:

Experience in the retail fixture or in-store marketing industries
Chinese manufacturing experience
Mandarin language skills
An appreciation for the industrial design and engineering process
Experience in electronics hardware development
Experience in Software development at both an OS and embedded level
Experience using web-based project and software development tools (we use Basecamp and the Atlassian suite)
Familiarity with “stage-and-gate” processes

Responsibilities

While the day-to-day role of our Technology Project Managers is highly fluid, in general this role is responsible for the following tasks:

Attend all tech project kickoff meetings, offer guidance, and follow up as appropriate
Make suggestions as to which suppliers would be a good fit for a given project
Search for, find, and vet suppliers in both new and existing competencies
Train suppliers in the “The Outform Way”, the methods we use for development, IP transfer, prototyping, mass production, quality control, and packaging.
Communicate clearly in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders
Communicate with customers as needed
Travel domestically and internationally to support projects
