The predecessor of Ningxia Medical University was Ningxia Medical College established in 1958. In August 2008, the school was renamed Ningxia Medical University, which is the only medical higher education institution in Ningxia. The school is jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the Health and Health Commission and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. There are more than 5600 teaching staff and medical staff (including directly affiliated hospitals), including 905 full-time teachers and 723 Vice-Senior titles. There are 1 double academician, 51 doctoral tutors and 660 master tutors. There are 9293 full-time students, including 1985 doctoral and master students and 323 international students. There are Yanhu and Shuangyi campuses, covering an area of 1700 mu.
