Job Summary
Academic Manager Duties – China Region
Administrative Responsibilities
1. Hold weekly meetings. Communicate with Chinese management regarding information that should be imparted to teaching staff.
2. Collect, proofread and distribute CC’s, student evaluations and report cards.
3. Check monthly clock-in cards and submit to payroll.
4. Monthly absentee cards and submit to payroll.
5. Ensure that classrooms and school are decorated.
6. Conducting teacher’s evaluations (monthly and performance)
7. Assist in sourcing teachers in local circles
Academic Responsibilities
1. Upholding the school’s academic standards.
2. Holding teacher’s meetings for improving school operation and increasing communication between teachers and management.
3. Substitute teaching whenever necessary.
4. Design tests for students when necessary.
5. Doing classroom rounds and making sure all teachers are following the curriculum to ensure high teaching quality.
6. Organize substitute teachers when teachers are absent.
7. Provide training for the teachers at the center
Promotions & Student Recruitment
1. Conduct oral placement tests for potential students.
2. Design and implement demo classes for prospective students when needed.
3. Design and organize off campus promotional events.
4. Coordinate and participate in events and activities at school such as Christmas, Halloween and Easter.
5. Monitor trial students.
6. Help create promotional materials such as videos, flashcards etc.
Leadership
1. Providing mentorship for teachers and students.
2. Providing leadership.
3. Maintaining a good relationship with parents and the community.
4. Communicating with parents occasionally about students’ progress.
5. Helping to solve issues, when misunderstandings happen between Chinese and foreign staff.
6. Following the school’s administration policies.
7. Being the liaison between Chinese management and foreign teachers.
8. Attendance at mandatory meetings, trainings, and participation in all school activities.
9. Supervise and discipline teachers.
10. Helping to organize and coordinate school activities (Halloween event, Christmas, Easter, etc.)
11. Providing help and consultation to foreign teachers to cope with the job.
12. Creating a positive environment for teachers and staff.
13. Inspire curiosity, thinking, interaction, and discussion on teaching materials.
14. Design and implement improvement plans for struggling teachers.
