Yidun Foreign Language School has been opened for almost 9 years in Yingkou and over this time we have built an excellent reputation as the best school for learning English in the city. We have very happy and loyal customers and it’s incredible seeing how our students’ performance have improved over the past 8 years. We teach students from 3-16 years of age in small classes, and use the CLIL teaching method (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CLIL) to teach our students not just a language, but also knowledge of other subjects and cultures. We are using the Footprints textbook from Macmillan publishers; we find it a really effective and interesting course book for language acquisition. At the moment, the school has got three branches around Yingkou, Bayuquan and Gaizhou. The school offers fantastic facilities (air conditioned and heated classrooms, interactive whiteboards, etc.) combined with small class sizes (max 8 students per class for aged 3-6-year-old students, and max 14 students per class for aged 7-16-year-old students). We develop our own curricular such as the life club course, which combine the life experiences with English learning. A few examples are the fire fighter course, top chef course, and football course. The school has got about 8 years of experiences of working with foreign teachers. We have been working with teachers from the U.K., Australia, The U.S.A. and Canada.

We have a great team to work with that include: Chinese teachers, foreign teachers, and marketing staffs. Everyone is friendly, professional and loving to each other. All of our teachers are knowledgeable and have a great deal of experiences. They are always ready to help. We provide weekly teacher training meetings to continue developing the skill set of all of our teachers. We also encourage collaboration between teachers and brainstorming sessions among all of our teachers to expand creativity and teamwork.

Part 2 The owner

Nicole Wen – The owner of Eton Foreign Language School, founded the school in 2010, and has guided it to becoming one of the best English schools in the city. After graduating with a degree in management from Royal Holloway, University of London, she worked for the British Consulate General in Shanghai. After she resigned from the consulate, she decided to come back to her hometown. Her vision was to return to her hometown and bring an excellent education to the children here. Not just teaching them a language, but inspiring an interest in other countries and cultures, bring a better education and open their minds to the world. After 4 years of practice, she would like to expand this career further. We are looking for the right members to join our team. Therefore, you will not have any communication problems with the owner, because she has been abroad and travels regularly. She has a good understanding of many Western cultures and loves to continually learn more and work with people from those cultures.

Part 3 The City

Our school is located in Bayuquan District, Yingkou City, Liaoning province. It is a newly developed city with beautiful beaches, hot springs and mountains. People from many countries and other parts of China travel to Bayuquan during summer because of the scenic beaches. The city is part of the Belt Road Policy development zone, which means we are seeing extremely rapid development here. It's an exciting time to be here as they expect the population to increase from 500,000 to 1,000,000 within the next year. It's clean and easy to get around the city. The people here are friendly. There is a new world class theatre which shows everything including Bollywood, orchestras and the Russian ballet. There is also a brand new fully stocked library, which has an excellent cafe. There are also a number of big shopping malls and Western food restaurants throughout the city. Yingkou is located between Dalian and Shenyang, two of the biggest and most important cities in the northeast of China. Both cities are just an hour away on the high-speed train.
